A student of Socrates listens to some Sophists:


"Non-facts do not exist do they?"
"No, they don't."
"And things which do not exist do not exist anywhere, do they?"
"No."
"Now, is it possible for things which do not exist to be the object of any action, in the sense that things which do not exist anywhere can have anything done to them?
"I don't think so."
"Well then, when politicians speak in the Assembly, isn't that an activity?"
"Yes, it is."
"And if it's an activity, they are doing something?"
"Yes."
"Then speech is activity, and doing something?"
He agreed.

"So no one speaks non-existent things: I mean, he would already, in speaking, be doing something, and you have agreed that it is impossible for non-existent things to have anything done to them by anybody. So you have committed to the view that lies never happen: if Dionysodorus speaks, he speaks facts–that is, truth."

A lot of Socrates is beyond me, but I think I have an answer to this one. "Do to" is a different action than "do with." You can't directly do anything to a falsehood, but you can do things with a falsehood, such as speaking it.

Also, you can indirectly do something to a falsehood, by changing other things such that a falsehood becomes true.

Replaying Remnant 2 reminds me of why I stopped playing games that don’t let you load saves. I drowned in a room with rising water and unique items, and when I went back, the water had fully risen and couldn’t be lowered. Try again next playthrough!

A lot of Tumblr posters have a model of social justice that doesn't seem like it can recognize, let alone respond to, a circular firing squad.

On Tumblr, there's lots of minority-on-minority rage whenever a minority member talks about restraining, disarming, or otherwise physically stopping someone for trying to beat them up. This isn't even cops--I've seen minority-member autism educators and minority-member psych ward workers get raged at by other minority members for trying to stop someone from physically attacking them. "Taking away someone's cane is an act of violence." "Hitting me over the head with a cane is an act of violence, so I took it away until they stopped hitting me."

Surprisingly, I haven't seen much rage at the doctor I sometimes see talk about restraining people for trying to beat him up. Then again, I don't think the doctor has disclosed membership in any minorities, and it seems to be easier to start a rage campaign against minority members.

I have once again been called racist for saying I refuse to classify people as a “race.”
